Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy explains what Deep Made Simple (deepmadesimple.com, "we", "us") collects when you use the site and Deep Made Simple Members (deepmadesimple.com/member), why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions? Contact us.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run your membership: your email, your name from Google if you sign in with Google, your plan, and how you use the members pages.
- Stripe handles your card. We never see or store your card number.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- Anything you post on the request board can be seen by others who visit the board.
What we collect
What you give us
- Email address, when you join, sign in, or write to us.
- Your Google profile basics, if you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile picture. We ask Google for nothing else. We never see your Google password.
- What you post on the request board: the studies you ask for, your comments, your votes, and any report you file on a post.
- Messages you send us through our contact form.
What Stripe tells us when you pay
- Your plan (Family or Partner), whether it is active, and the customer and subscription numbers Stripe gives us. Stripe keeps your card details. We do not receive them.
What we collect as you use the site
- Watch activity on the members pages: which videos you play, pause, finish or download, and where you stopped, so you can pick up where you left off and so we know which studies help most.
- A browser ID: a random code stored in your browser that ties your watch activity and board posts together. It does not contain your name.
- Usage data from Google Analytics 4: pages visited, time on page, the link that brought you here, approximate location (city level), device and browser type.
- Basic server logs kept by our host: IP address, browser type and the time of each request, used to keep the site running and secure.
Why we use it
- To give you access to what you paid for, and keep you signed in.
- To send emails about your membership: your welcome email, receipts and account notices, and new studies for members.
- To run the request board and show which studies members want most.
- To understand which pages and videos work, and improve them.
- To answer your questions.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal duties.
Where a law asks for a legal basis (for example in the EU or UK), we rely on: the contract with you (running your membership), our legitimate interests (improving the site, keeping it safe), your consent (where we ask for it), and legal obligations.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- Sign-in cookies that keep you signed in as a member. They are needed for the members area to work.
- The browser ID described above.
- Google Analytics cookies that count visits and show how people move through the site.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in cookies, the members area will not work. You can opt out of Google Analytics on any site with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the companies that help us run the site, and only for that purpose:
| Service | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Takes payments and runs your subscription | Your email, card and billing details (entered on Stripe's own page) |
| Google (Sign-in) | Lets you sign in with your Google account | Your sign-in request |
| Google Analytics 4 | Measures how the site is used | Usage data and the browser ID it sets |
| Resend | Sends our emails | Your email address and the email we send you |
| Vercel | Hosts the site | Server logs (IP address, browser, request time) |
| Upstash Redis | Stores member records, watch activity and board posts | Your email, plan, browser ID, watch activity and posts |
Each of these services has its own privacy policy and handles your data under its agreement with us.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights or safety of our members or others, or as part of a sale or transfer of the site, in which case this policy keeps applying to your information.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-site advertising.
The request board
The request board is where members ask for Bible studies, vote and comment. What you post there, including the request, its explanation and your comments, can be seen by anyone who visits the board, including other members and our team. Please don't post private details about yourself or anyone else. You can edit or remove your own posts. We may remove posts that break our Terms of Use.
How long we keep it
- Member records, for as long as you have an account and up to 7 years after, so we can answer billing questions and meet tax and accounting rules.
- Watch activity, while your account is open.
- Board posts, until you or we remove them.
- Google Analytics data, for 14 months, then Google deletes it.
- Emails you send us, for as long as we need them to help you.
How we protect it
The site runs only over HTTPS. Sign-in cookies are signed and cannot be read by page scripts. Card details stay with Stripe. Access to member records is limited to our team. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the personal information we hold about you,
- correct it,
- delete it,
- give you a copy in a common format,
- stop sending you emails about new studies (every such email has an unsubscribe link).
Depending on where you live (for example California, other U.S. states with privacy laws, the EU or the UK), you may have further rights, including the right to object to or restrict some uses, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.
To make a request, contact us using the email address on your account. We answer within 30 days. We may need to confirm it is you before we act.
Children
Deep Made Simple Members is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. A child under 18 may use the site only with a parent or guardian, who manages the account and the payment. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Visitors outside the United States
We operate from the United States and our service providers store data in the United States and other countries. By using the site, your information may be processed in countries with different data protection laws than yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on our providers' standard contractual protections for these transfers.
Links to other sites
The site links to other sites, such as YouTube and Bible websites. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we change the date at the top. If a change matters to how we use your information, we will tell members by email before it takes effect.
